We’re not kidding when we say we’re not your average CPA firm. We don’t even do bookkeeping and payroll! (Although we could put you in touch with someone who does.) We are what we call a “boutique” CPA practice because, rather than try to be all things to all people; we want to specialize in the areas where we excel. Our services include:

Our founder, Roxanne, started her career in the printing and publishing field. Once she graduated cum laude with an accounting degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1986, she went to work for a local CPA firm. She later moved on to gain valuable experience at one of the big six, Ernst and Young, which gave her the confidence to set up a CPA practice in Des Moines in 1993. 

After six years she sold the business for a tidy profit, and after some years relocated to Shanghai in China for two years. On her return to the United States, armed with new ideas and ambitions, Roxanne qualified as a certified valuation analyst (CVA). 

For years, Roxanne watched entrepreneurs pay for monthly or quarterly financial statements that usually just got filed away in a drawer somewhere or given to the bank. Business owners didn’t know what to do with the information. Roxanne’s goal was to change that by bringing her twenty-five plus years of CPA experience and CVA knowledge together. 

Roxanne started her new business in 2017, with the intent of it being mobile, as she did not want to open another office and be tied down by office hours. She liked to travel and was inspired by a fellow valuation practitioner who runs a valuation practice out of an RV. While she doesn’t live in an RV, she wanted the same kind of freedom. 

She enjoys the flexibility of working out of her home, in Warsaw and other exciting places she can find, occasionally even at Starbucks. It also gives her the ability to visit a client’s site of business or take a trip on short notice. 

This year she got to cross something significant off her bucket list, having always wanted to see the cherry blossoms bloom in DC. With her new mobility, she was able to house sit for her son in the DC area while still being able to work remotely. In the past, she could never leave the office during the tax season.

We have just launched our trademarked Profit Positioning System (PPS), which we have been developing for over a year. It capitalizes on Roxanne’s training and experience in conjunction with powerful software and business analytics to develop an actionable plan customized to get results. It is not just the data, but a real map that shows how to improve profitability, market value, and marketability of a business. By 2020, we expect to be able to quantify the approximate total number of dollars increase in our clients’ businesses that have resulted from using the PPS service. 

What makes us unique is that we are the only firm that offers the PPS system, and we are client orientated. A client once told Roxanne, “but you’re in business to make money.” Her reply was, “No, we are in business to serve our clients, and by doing a good job at that we make money.” If you are looking for the cheapest firm, we are not for you. 

Our dream for the future is to be an innovator in the CPA profession, which will help us scale up. We are confident that the following practices will contribute to our success: 

1. Moving to fixed pricing rather than traditional hourly rates that clients hate because of the uncertainty. (We’re not totally there yet, but we’re working on it.) 

2. Provide results-oriented services rather than labor oriented. 

3. Being a valued advisor to your business rather than just giving you a report to throw in a drawer.
